Spectacular Autumn Views | Hiking New Hampshire Mt Israel & Rattlesnake
We were pleasantly shocked by the abundant fall foliage that greeted us when we drove about 90 minutes south to hike Mount Israel in the lakes region of New Hampshire. In our neck of the woods, the trees had all shed their leaves, leaving us in stick season.
Mount Israel is on the 52 with a view hiking list. A list curated by the Over the Hill Hikers in attempt to drive traffic away from the NH 4,000 footers. We love working our way through this list because it allows us to enjoy the beautiful New England forest and mountains we might not otherwise hike.
Mount Israel was 4.5 miles with 1,883 feet of elevation gain.
Since we don't spend a ton of our time down in this region of New Hampshire and we still had energy to spare, we decided to tack on Rattlesnake Mountain.
This mountain is not on the 52 with a view list but it is one that is famed for the best bang for your buck. And we totally agree. We were surprised to see that the foliage was not as spectacular here as it was on Mt Israel, but nevertheless the views made up for it.
We chose to hike Rattlesnake in a loop that was 2.3 miles with 955 feet of elevation which provided us with 2 different viewpoints of Squam lake.
Mt Israel and Rattlesnake combined was a total of 6.8 miles with 2,838 feet of climbing.

Autumn Sunset in the White Mountains | Mount Doublehead, Jackson NH
Переглядів 1547 місяців тому
Nothing beats a full Autumn day exploring one of our local towns, Jackson NH in the heart of the White Mountains. Our first stop was having some fun foraging wild apples with a friend. Afterwards we made a quick pit stop at beautiful Jackson Falls, a spectacular waterfall right off the side of the road. No hiking required besides the few rocky steps down to the river. After a quick lunch break,...

Join Hannah & Richard on an epic Halloween adventure in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Our first stop is Mount Tecumseh, one of the 48 four-thousand footers of New Hampshire. Hiking all 48 is a popular hiking challenge that we completed back in 2021. Unfortunately, our first time summiting this peak we had no views as it was completed socked in by clouds. Mount Tecumseh is a great beginn...

A few months ago we climbed the highest point in Connecticut. This is something I've never done but Richard has! Richard got into hiking as a child because of a trend called "High Pointing". Does it work with both common yarrow and chinese yarrow? Also: I've heard from multiple sources that thet smell fragrant but others say (and in my own experience) they kinda stink. Is it just the variety I have?
